Assistant Instructor - Katrina first started training at the Bushido-Hombu aged 13 when her younger brother and sisters began training. As a family they stayed with the club for a number of years, Katrina achieving blue belt at the age of 15.
Through the pressures of University and training to become a qualified paediatric nurse Katrina has taken a few breaks from training, however she is adamant that karate was still always in her thoughts, proven by passing her brown belt shortly after returning to regular practice.
Katrina is keenly working towards her next grade and having been a part of the club for such a large part of her life we have seen dramatic changes of the years. From a shy teenager who was more happy to stay at the back of the class in the shadows, Katrina now regularly assists in the Family class and covers classes in Kevin's absence. Katrina's passion lies in the perfection of Kata and she can often be seen in her local gym practicing her Kata along with yoga asanas in her efforts to attain her goals. Katrina is also a very accomplished fighter, often proving that size and sex give no advantages or disadvantages when sparring in the club (all members have at one time fallen foul to her fast reverse punch or perfectly timed roundhouse kick!).
Katrina is currently not only working upon raising her standard to the next grade but also looking into opening a new children's class, with her experience working in nursery schools and as a nurse at the local hospital, Katrina's understanding of children will make her a great instructor.
